contact approach

contact approach
A visual approach to an airfield requested by, and granted to, a pilot on an IFR (instrument flight rules) flight. The pilot must be clear of clouds, and flight visibility should be more than one mile. Also, there should be a reasonable expectation that these conditions will continue until the destination airfield is reached.
